NBC, currently in fourth place in the ratings, just released a fall lineup that offers no reason to believe it will reverse its fortunes. The only new show that seems interesting is "Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip," a behind-the-scenes look at a fictional sketch comedy show starring "West Wing" alumnus Bradley Whitford and conceived by "West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin. "My Name Is Earl" was the only show that debuted at the start of the 2005-06 season getting renewed. NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly is still trying to clean up the mess left by his predecessor, Jeff Zucker, who ran the network on fumes and into the ground by 2004 but nonetheless got promoted by NBC Universal to a higher executive job. If he worked at the White House and screwed up just as much, he'd have gotten a medal! :-O
Meanwhile, "Will &Grace" - believed by many to be NBC's last unqualified hit sitcom - thankfully airs its series finale tomorrow after eight years.
