ABC and CBS: The 2006-07 TV Season

ABC and CBS introduced their new fall schedules. I thought I'd have a lot to say about them, but I apparently don't - especially where ABC is concerned.
It's mostly going to be business as usual this fall for the alphabet network. . . except for a new sitcom that promises to be, uh, different. It's called "Let's Rob Mick Jagger." So the rumors are true - Mick Jagger (the one and only) is getting involved in a comedy series. "Let's Rob Mick Jagger?" Sounds to me like it's the viewers who are gonna get robbed.
CBS, meanwhile, is saying goodbye to Mike Wallace of "60 Minutes" after nearly forty years, as he's finally retiring. It's been a helluva ride, Mike! :-) "How I Met Your Mother" will move to 8 PM (ET) on Mondays, up one slot, displacing "The King of Queens." That series will return with thirteen episodes in the middle of the 2006-07 year for an abbreviated ninth - and final - season. Makes sense, as "The King of Queens" debuted back when Volkswagen's New Beetle really was new.
Two other sitcoms are disappearing - CBS said no to "Yes Dear," and "Still Standing" isn't. This is good news for husbands everywhere, as there are now two fewer shows depicting them as stupid, indecent louts, with perfect beings who can do no wrong for wives. (True, "The King of Queens" is in the same vein, but that show is genuinely funny, and besides - Doug and Carrie seem like they really belong together!) Bad news for "Ed" fans - "Love Monkey" (starring Tom Cavanugh, "Ed" himself) and "Courting Alex" (co-starring Josh Randall) are both officially gone, reduced to being answers to questions in a future two thousand zeroes edition of Trivial Pursuit.
New CBS series? Who cares? :-p
Alright, maybe I did have a lot to say . . .
